Afternoon All and hope somebody can help. I have from my dad's estate his old Marquette Model M Floor Jack. The serial # is L234184. Its complete and I know he had it since at least the early 60's.
Can anyone give a me an approximate age of this? I would like to rebuild it and make it functional in the garage, so I have a couple of questions.
First and foremost, is this something that one who has NEVER taken apart a jack before can accomplish?! I know cars, and I can do bodywork, but for some reason, this is intimidating to me!
Second is rebuilding kit(s). Who is the preferred source, and could I be so lucky that there is one kit to do the whole jack?
Is there a manual to tear this down and if so, where can I obtain a copy?
Lastly would be the finish. I would remove all of the old paint, but I wouldn't sandblast as there really is no rust. But when I refinish it what is the recommended paint type, ie enamel, urethane, powder coat, etc, and would anyone know the correct color(s) it should be?
Thanks to any and all for their input and responses.
