Masonry diamond blades cut metal?

I've noticed recently Ridgid and Lenox offer these segmented diamond impregnated blades for cutting metal (steel, AL, etc). Got me wondering if the old standby masonry (wet/dry) versions, which look identical to those, might work just as well on that material.

Anyone ever try their masonry ones out on metal?

Yes they will but the metal cutting ones are getting so cheap, what's the advantage of the masonry one unless you just happen to have it.

I have bought masonary grinding wheels for my mini grinder that were on clearance and used then for rough grinding on metal with no issues

I will offer a word of caution on using diamond blades for cutting metal. For several years I did commercial heating and air, I used the diamond blades for cutting metal roofing for setting unit curbs. One of the diamond teeth broke off of a new blade and shot out across the roof, went through the decking, into the building and stuck in a sheet rock wall. So be careful and always check the blade for any signs of wear or cracks.
