Massey bench vise/ no. 36

Anyone know much about a MASSEY VISE i stumble across one i only got one pic the guy was a long ways from me and is gonna bring it 40miles from me on a buisness trip, it has 6in jaws there was another pic of it but he took it off from C/L before i could copy it the other pic said 33 on the side, the harbor freight vise he thru it in he just did not want to scrap them, he said the big massey is smooth as butter.
he said it was used on a railroad and its made in chicago, it can't be all that bad

Tedsters: i own a Massey from the late 1800's that is a very well made vise. here's a few pictures. i'm guessing if the vise you are looking at is a real Massey it was probably manufactured prior to WWI.

there ain't a whole lot info anywhere on this 36, it does say massey 36 made in chicago on the other side and it has C chanelled jaws

tedsters: if that vise isn't too far it would be worth a closer look. the picture is too small for me to let you know much about condition. i remember Fulton marrying Massey's daughter and i think fulton ended up with Massey's vise company that he merged into his. not positive so see what you can find out, but in the meantime go look at that vise and bring it home if it's in decent shape because probably 100 years old.

he is a long ways from me, and he is coming to grand rapids the end of next month he said he would bring to the show, i may go get them but i would have to find something else to pick up instead of just grabbing these vises, if it were a 600 bullet or 800 it would be different
