Master Extension Set

Has any one seen a master extension set? I prefer to have my extensions in a tray so they are easy to grab and inventory through out the day. However having several trays takes up a lot of space in the socket drawer. I would like to find a set that includes 1/4 3/8 and 1/2 extensions in a range of sizes up to 18 or 24". but more complete, not wobble, and a real brand.

i'm probably not willing to spend that kind of coin

and the snap on dealer refuses to come to our shop (the largest dealership in the area)

those are both nice looking sets but they are just one drive size. and the snap on problem

Im not sure how you cant have a huge variety of extensions when working on cars

doing spark plugs on a modern V-8 the 3/8drive set it very handy

I'm saying one set (all in 1 tray) that includes 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" drive sizes. For the reason of taking up less space in the drawer than 3 separate trays.

I dont know of anything with 3 sizes in one tray
I guess you could try making a tray so they you can have exactly what you want in it
use a router and the right size bit

that may be the best way to go about it. I as thinking of trying to mold the extensions into some sort of foam. But I like the wood idea, it would probably hold up better.

Time to get out some wood or plastic and a router, and make your own tray.

Personally i just keep all of mine on a socket rail. If you use a metal one it allows fairly easy removal by just lifting them up at an angle.

Guess i was a little late on my suggestion. If you check some of the industrial suppliers you can get a softer plastic that would be easily cut and hold up well to grease etc.

for the 1/2 drive stuff I would go with impact extensions
normally if its that large a quick zap is much quicker for removal than a big ratchet or breaker bar

I bash a lot of Craftsman tools (ratchets and China stuff) but if you want to come out on the cheap look into Craftsman extension sets. They have a good selection at a good price and you can buy a set of 3/8 for like 15 dollars (4 extensions in 1.5, 3, 6. 10) and then add a 20 inch and be out less than 30 dollars. About 25-30 on 1/4 inch an 35 on 1/2 drive. I've bever broke a Craftsman regular extension by hand. about 90 dollars would have you covered very well with about 15-16 extensions in three drive sizes. No fancy plastic tray but a solid set at a reasonable price.

Here is a full Cman set for only $60 you get some swivel and adapters but between this and the 15% off with Bing (last day to do that at sears) would turn out being a good set for $50.

I have that set. It didn't come with a storage tray, which is what the OP wants. When I got mine in the mail, they were in zip-lok bags, much like everything Sears ships...

man just go to advance down the street and buy a set of 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2. it will cost you like $60. they have the knurling on them and won't break the bank. i have mostly SO and Cman extensions at work. The SO are the best but will break the bank. The cman desperately need grip. I have one GW ext and we have hammered the hell out of it on the air gun and its never flexed
