I looked up your belt sander it has variable speed a big plus. 3x21 is a good size. 8 lbs and 8 amps equal easy handling. I got a big 12lb 12 amp Porter cable 360vs 3x24 that's a bear to handle. I use a small makita 3x18 most of the time. Out of your listed sanders, IMHO B&D and craftsman is junk, had a skil (really really loud) that I returned and got the Makita. Ryobi usually makes a nice product for the price. Ridgid sander looks well made. The master force looks like a portr cable clone. The Porter cable 3x21 352vs is world class.
I got a craftsman industrial spade handle drill from like 1995 that's a dewalt dw131(not to be confused w/ the lesser dw130 that lowes and hd had but the big long handled spade handle drill) in craftsman clothes. Your dad would love it! It's a bruiser! Craftsman has sadly flushed itself down the toilet.Thanks zoomzoomjeff thats what i was waiting to hear. Just a few guys that had looked at the comp. like i did and came up with the same conclusion. Almost went with craftsman but there quality has gone way down. Raised on craftsman thats all dad would by but that is when they made better tools thanks again.

But I still remember what I was taught. Which is why I will never sell his old craftsman stuff. And snap a pic of it think I got dads drill that is just like it.

Sweet!Well toolaholic finally got to menards and got the masterforce real pleased with it at closer inspection.Then noticed 3 year warranty and as far as I can see the only down side is made in china.
