I bought a different Mastercool manifold set, and I also had a problem with
the high side quick coupler. I could not even get it to attach.
Those quick couplers are also called "economy" couplers by MC.
And sometimes "professional" or "automatic" couplers.
The better couplers, the ones you purchased, are the manual couplers,
also called "standard" couplers.
MC tech support told me that the problem is not with the economy
couplers, but rather due to the valves on the vehicle not being in spec.
The manual couplers do a better job of attaching to out of spec valves.
But you said that the 2nd manifold set you got worked right, so I don't know
if I believe the tech support claim.
I think MC could do a better job of providing information to the buyer
about quick vs manual couplers.

I used both sets of the same truck. Worked on one set not the other. I also tried 2 other vehicles and got mixed results on both.
Check out my video on the ford accumulator that will be uploaded monday, at the end you see the mastercool oil injector I got was cross threaded right out of the box. They could use some better quality control.
