New evaporative cooler any good

Well I just bought my first house 7 months ago. It was built in 1965 and has a traditional style swamp cooler. I'm not sure when swampers first came out, so I'm not sure if the house came with it or was added years later. I know the swamper is at least 20 years old min. I was up on the roof setting it up and it needs new pads, pump, water line, belt, basket, float, drain, spider legs(thats what I call them) and has a lot of rust on the bottom of the pan. All of this would be about $100 from lowes, minus rust. While at Lowes today to get all the swamper stuff I saw they had a mastercool single inlet evaporative cool on clearance. Regular $599 on clearance for $140 brand new in box. Is this any better then a traditional swamper? Thanks guys
Ken

I have 5 at our compound. They're the premier cooler on the market, imo.

At $140? Buy it. It's worth maybe 5 degrees over a standard cooler. The thicker single pad cools significantly better.

The pad lasts about 5 years, vs one season for the pads on standard coolers. It should have a "clean machine" in it.... if not, get one. These are the pumps that dump your water a couple of times/day so that your pads/cooler interior doesn't get ruined by the high solute concentration that builds up with the normal evaporative function.
