Used em on my rusty brakes last week......

Fasteners were rusted in pretty solid and I had to really reef on those wrenches to break em free. Those wrenches worked great, took the abuse like champs.

Its a good starter set, closest to HF prices you will see in Canada . . .

Actually there are cheaper sets out there, but not better value-for-money, IMO. Except for when the 30 piece set goes on sale with bonus stubbies, that is.

These are probably the best part of the Mastercraft Maximum offerings - or any part of the Mastercraft line, for that matter.

They are actually very pretty wrenches too.....

The quality control on them looks pretty solid. I looked at all of mine for the typical flaws like the box end broaching being a bit off, etc. I couldn't spot a flaw anywhere.

I wonder if they're rebranded Gearwrench wrenches? Their ratcheting wrenches are all Gearwrench brand so it's possible.

I own those, really like them! :bounce:

I also own the older "Professionnal Series" that my girlfriend used when she worked at a Toyota dealer a while ago. They took the abuse and the finish is still in very good condition.

Yup, those are the only one's I own from them. During the period it was called the professional series. Very simple and direct name, none of this girly names like Maximum etc . . . :wtf:

The lettering on the tools looked more professional as well. I was very heart broken when I had to warranty a few tools, and the gave me the Maximum branded tool . . .

I gave it back to her and told her to bring me back the old style. She must have looked for 20 minutes just to find them for me.

10 years later I might be hard pressed to have that happen again as 90% of the lock bins are indeed the Maximum branded ones on the pegs.

Maybe 1-3 items with the old style . . . Oh well I moved on 25 years ago so no worries . . . :bounce:

Wow that looks/sounds like one hell of a set for the money, wish I was from Canada. Anyone know if any place in the US sells them or are they made just for Canadian Tire?

Only at Canadian Tire . . . Keeping in mind this set is made by the same factory that churns out the GearWrench brand . . . I am sure you will find many sales on similar packages from the USA.

Trust me, a sale like this only happens once every blue moon. For our brothers in the USA, this is just a blip and you have daily pricing for these on line.

No need to wait for a sale, its already bone cheap! :(

They had S wrench's on sale for 15$ for the double sets, SAE and metric. I picked up 2 sets for that price and I must say I was really shocked at how nice they where.

I also have all of those sets at home, I like them.

Re branded gearwrench incase you did not know.

Come on boys! We've been over this before. (Repeatedly.)

The non-GearWrench wrenches in the link above are made by Stanley. To be more specific, they are a product of Stanley Chiro International Limited - a Taiwanese company (Chiro Tool Manufacturing Corporation) acquired by Stanley in 1986 as a part of their strategy to move production to the Pacific Rim.

The GearWrenches are indeed made by Lea Way Hand Tool Corporation...

About 3-4 times a year, actually! Father's Day & Christmas always feature great sales.

Like Mario & Teken, I prefer the older "Professional Series" to the current "Mastercraft Maximum" offerings. I'm not sure there is any quality difference, but they did look more professional...

I grabbed a set of them, and the metric set that they had on for $17.99. Mostly to fill out a 'travel toolbox' for the road monster.

One of the other threads a few months ago has indicated that the non geared wrench sets are now produced from Lea Way Hand Tool Corporation.

I don't know if that makes a huge difference to anyone to be honest. It doesn't make a difference to me either way, besides they are a great value for the money.

Dropped by another Canadian Tire today to pick up a PCV valve and noticed this store has a lot more old stock of the Professional Series in sockets and ratchets.

Maybe next month I will buy a few to fill out a couple of blanks I need for another go to bag.

They usually come on sale once, maybe twice per year. The GearWrench (Mastercraft Maximum) flexhead wrench sets are on sale for 55% off, but they should come on sale for 65% off in Nov. Likewise, the 32pc combo wrench set with bonus stubbies comes on sale once or twice a year (I think it was on sale just a few weels ago).
