the nut on the lock cylinder worked its' way off. it lives in an enclosed 'box' channel of bent/formed steel, looks non accessible. how would i get to it, short of using a cutting wheel to the underside of it?

It may be like my Homack and there maybe some rivets hiding under the liner in the top section.

That's weird. It has to be serviceable. Do you have the manual it came with. There is usually a 1800 number for things like this. Maybe the manual is available online ?

contact masterforce- they have lifetime warranty, they may replace the whole box for you. I know it would be a pain in the a$$ but you could possible get a new box out of it.

I had one that the weld broke on it and i emailed them and they arranged for me to exchange my box out at menards

cant find the manuals (strange, because i have a file drawer filled with tool manuals), cant find the receipts (strange again, those are in envelopes, arranged by year)
menards on line pdf shows only how to attach the handles, after scrolling thru 4 pages of warnings. there is a 800 number, which i'll ring tomorrow (m/f, 8:30-5 est)
thanks, guys

I did not have the receipt either and they were very helpful. I would definitely buy another box from menards

update. (i forgot about this thread)
called the 800 phone #. went to some nice lady in new york. after several calls, she couldn't help. she contacted someone else via email. that lady (in missouri) had the info on how to access the rear of the top lock. in getting that panel off, i found that i need the c clip that holds the lock in place, and two guides for the rods that would lock the lid.
i called the 1st lady, phone rang forever.
found the 2nd lady's # thru the emails. found out the new york # was montezuma, and they may be out of buisness. told her what i needed, and she would get back to me.
i need to make a phone call in the morning.

here's the pdf. the steel panel is locked into place with 5 tabs. you have to squeeze the panel to clear the tabs, and, it aint easy. in lifting and swinging that panel out, i damaged the 2 plastic guides for the rods that lock the lid.
(cant upload pdf. too large for this site)

well, recieved a new lock assembly today, with the 'c' clip. no plastic guides. guess ill have to improvise something, however, the top is so full of ****, closing the lid is a moot point.
btw, the 800 (new york) listed in their manuals is out of service.
the lady i talked to, allowed me to post up their # here, after telling her i'm on a few tool forums. as long as you guys are nice to her/them.
