I'm considering purchasing a new 8" bench grinder and looking at the Masterforce brand from Menard's. Yeah, I know there is better stuff out there but I'll be using saved up rebates for a little or no cost tool. Link below to grinder.

I'm curious as to makes it for Masterforce. I checked out the PDF users manual link and it shows a toll-free number for customer service, 1-877-866-8392. So I Google that number and really find nothing but, it's the same number that shows up on some Cman power tool customer service.

Now I come to the conclusion that Masterforce (Menard's) or Cman are using the same manufacturer for some of their power tools.

Any thoughts ?

Just came back in from taking the dog out and I thought I answered my own question. At the top of the page for the PDF file, I see RIKON in the address.

Rugged tool rests - attached to tin wheel guards :wtf:
Looks like pretty much every other Asian import grinder, it is what it is. Bought a Craftsman like that many years ago, smokin' deal at the time, open box, guy at Sears was bummed I had found it, think he wanted it for himself. 6 months later I got rid of it, no more tin shields for me.

Shoot torqueman2002 on here a message and he'll set you up with a nice used Craftsman block grinder. Much better quality then anything they are selling in big box stores.

Keep in mind, I'll be using saved up rebates from Menard's so my cost will be virtually $0.

I don't use mine a great amount. The current Skil 5" bench grinder is 20 years old and the wife got it for me from a previous employer. It's still going but I am going to switch it over to wire brushes.

I bought a Dewalt 8" bench grinder, tried it out and it vibrated like crazy. Read a bunch of online reviews and about a third of the reviewers had the same issue. Immediately returned it and bought the Masterforce 8" with variable speed from menards and very little vibration. Sold! Has a light which will help as I'm needing my work lighted more these days. only issue I can forsee is the wire wheel brush seems flimsy and probably won't last long.
