Does anyone here have a lot of Masterforce wrenches, sockets & ratchets from Menards? How are you getting along with them? I'm looking for another set of tools for a couple of portable tractor/combine toolboxes. Our local Menards has a pretty impressive display. I like that they make a full selection of sizes (some of the sets might skip a size or two, but individuals are available for purchase).

But what kills me is all of the chrome sockets are 12pt, I'd much rather have 6pt. I guess for the amount of use they'll see, it probably wont matter much.

I'm well aware of Tekton, but I'm not a fan of their wrenches, mostly how they're marked. Only once in the middle, and then if you flip the wrench over, the other marking is upside down. The Masterforce is marked twice on each side, thats pretty handy when digging around in a toolbox in the middle of the field in the dark.

My main tools are Carlyle from Napa, but I dont need to spend that kind of coin for these sets. I've looked at Napa's cheaper Evercraft tools, and I'm not very impressed with the wrenches. Pretty cheap looking.

I dont see them talked about much on here. I think it's probably since Menards is somewhat of a regional store. I think I have one or two little things from them around the shop. My cousin has quite a bit of their wrenches and sockets in all his service trucks and seems to get along just fine with them. Just by looking at them they look just as good as any decent foreign hand tool, but that doesn't always mean much.

Do you have any Bomgaars in your area? I just picked up this Dewalt set on sale for $150 at my local Bomgaars-it will go in another road box for my side by side. I need to grab a few more sockets to finish it (need a couple bigger 1/2" drives and a couple smaller 3/8" drives) but that set comes with a sh!tload of stuff for only $150. It would take care of the majority of the sockets you'd need at least.

That Dewalt link shows the contents of the kit. Damn near everything you need, short and deep, in 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2" drive. Only extra sockets I need to pick up is a 5.5mm 1/4" drive, 7mm 3/8 drive, and 1-1/16 through 1-1/4 for 1/2" drive.

I have some Masterforce stuff. I like it just fine, actually. Menard's tool display area is one of the best in any nearby store, and they have a couple of grades of tools. I like it that they sell individual sockets, too. I haven't bought any sets of tools from them - just individual tools. I was impressed by the 1/4" speed handle I got there. It's hard to find one in 1/4" drive these days. As for long life and endurance, I don't know. Time will tell.
