What is this thing?

At first, i though a baby hammer, or maybe a door panel tool.
No info on it other than the Matador Branding.

That there is a 1946 whapper; earlier models were not chrome plated because of war effort. They were used, when and if needed, to supplement the American learning experience; discontinued about 2½ generations ago.

Found another picture of one. It belonged to an classifieds ad (no longer visible) on an Austrian website.

(Not my picture, copyright by whomever took it for that ad.)

The left side looks like the typical anvil of a striking/ slugging wrench. The right side looks like it’s just a hanging loop. I’m torn between which of the two sides is the actual business end. Never seen such a tool.

I would also say its finish is too rough to be some kind of (precision) gauge.

It could be some kind of “anvil”/ or stop.

I will go through a paper catalog and see if I can find something like this from one of my industrial suppliers.

I’d also suggest to ask Matador directly, would be interesting to know.

Kind regards,
Olli

Got it. It’s a tire lever/ iron.

Found it in a shop in Bolivia: https://toolsplacestore.com/producto/palanca-para-sacar-llanta-cod539/

Kind regards,
Olli
That was my random guess but I couldn’t find anything on it and decided not to post.
I have some other makes similar but double-ended.
I could see me using the hammer end to put on wheel weights in a pinch.
Too bad they didn’t thread that hang hole. It could be used to pull stems.
Thanks Olli,

Great work on that tire tool, Olli.

Have you seen the German ‘tool’ listed on post #1,170 at:

Been a lot of discussion on it; maybe you or some you know might recognize it.

Anyway great you solved this ‘mystery tool’, was thinking more along the lines of an attention getting device with a hole in the handle for a wrist lanyard !!!

Have a Great Day
