Match new concrete to old?

We have a concrete patio in the back of our house (about 2 years old). For some reason the builder just did a patio under half of the deck, the other half is just a mulch bed. We want to extend the patio and make the mulch area useful.

So I know i will never get a perfect match - but what are my options to get the two to somewhat match? I've thought about staining (the kind with a few colors to get some variations, and not just one solid color) - I know the different slabs will absorb differently, but no idea how much.

Any thoughts/recommendations?

Acrylic sealer with tint. It will be opaque and will be as close as you can get without overlaying the entire project.
