I just called Matco tools and asked were there 1/2 drive deep chrome sockets are made. Matco part # 146TA 10mm-22mm and 24mm. The rep hung up on me. My Matco dealer said he did not know were the sockets were made. There were no USA stamped on the socket just Matco and the eagle logo along with the high visable tool size.:headscrat

I just talked to my Matco dealer over the phone. Tomorrow I'll be on his truck and I can see for myself. If I cannot tell were the socket set is made I'm going to Autozone.:thumbup.

No matter where the matco ones are made the chrome will peel off of them after just a few uses.

SCDM146TA is the complete part #. I just checked mine & the sockets say "USA" on them.

They have been having phone problems all week. I've had several calls dropped.

All of my Matco sockets have USA on them. None of them have ever had chrome flake or peel. I must be trully lucky to have these sockets considering everyone else's experiences:wtf: I'm sure in the future though everything Dahaner/Apex will be a Chinese made Gearwrench clone.
If the little letters USA aren't on the tool, then it's not made here regardless of whose brand name is on it. If Snap on is ashamed to put USA on their tools for possibly offending their global market, I'm too ashamed to buy them domestically.

All of my Matco sockets are 25 to 30 years old, and none have peeled, plus I cna report that they have not been babied along with no TLC. Today I was looking at them and thought "man I should at least WD40 them". I'll probably break out the chrome polish this weekend, that should be enough of a shock for them to react in some way....

No fare comparing older quality tools with new stuff! I have some peeling on my ratchet but was told the warranty doesn't cover "wear."

I buy most of my tools used, and I have bought a few matco tools that had some chrome chipped or peeling, but my Matco dealer has always replaced them under warranty.
Haven't had that problem with any newer Matco tools though...

When did Matco change who manufactured their sockets, I was led to believe that Wright was the company who made their sockets initially, but obviously they changed. All of mine are the old series of sockets that I bought many years ago, just wondering when they shifts production, and was out to Armstrong? Or does Matco actually produce them, themselves?
