Have the chance to purchase a 72" x 24" x 42" Cad Yellow Matco Pro Formance 4735 with Hutch for $4K. Box has actually been used as a tattoo station so its never seen shop use, thus being in "like new" condition. Is this price right? Any info on the box would be great as I dont know much about them. The picture attached isnt the actual box, but is a good example of what it is and what kind of condition its in.

Thanks in Advance!

The old MB4735 is now the 4325R & 4325HU. Current list is $7725 for the pair. At 4K you're just above 1/2 price for a "like new" box. Not bad on my opinion.

thats what i was hoping to hear. the only thing i wish i knew was the drawer dimensions and if the top drawer has the divider in it. does matco still offer a stainless work surface as on option? And if not...can you still get the particle board surface for it?

For me its an ok deal. I personally would offer 3200, and would go 3500. Thats just me, guess I'm cheap.

Well thats what im hoping he'd take. If i could realistically get it for $3500..id be quite pleased.

And as far as the divider goes, thats great because i really like that feature. I know most hate on it but i like that i can divide different tool sets in one drawer and have it look good as well. How much would a cover run for this setup? And do Matco covers have the magnets sewn in so it stays on even when you unzip to access the drawers and hutch?

Got to add the convenience of finding one local (I assume it is local to you). Hauling a box that size a distance would be a PITA, and shipping it would be crazy expensive.

So all in all, if you can get it local, inspect it closely, and it is exactly what you want, then all of those factors are worth a premium. To me, anything over the 50% mark is a premium, anything under that is a discount (rough rule of thumb for sure).

Realize what is convenient for you is also convenient for the seller. A box that large is not going to be easy to sell, once you get to that price level, everyone has their favorite brand, favorite color, favorite style, size, layout, etc.

Box would need to be perfect, or near perfect at that price point.

How important is the Hutch to you? IMO the price is high and if it's the box from Craigslist it's been listed for quite some time. I wouldn't pay over 3k if I needed the box.

For 4k I'd be looking for a 6s or KRL that size. Heck, if you don't NEED a hutch I'd look pretty hard at the Montezuma Elite 72" box on Strictly Toolboxes for around $3k delivered, it's a 30" deep box and from the reviews I've seen the quality should be better than a 4s box.

Nothing against a Matco 4s box, I had one for about a year until I found a screaming deal on a KRL and it was a nice box, but for the price he's asking you should be able to find something better, especially if you're willing to look for a while.

if you want the hutch thats a pretty good deal, if you dont want or need it you can get somethig similar in the 3000-3500 range.

i like the matco boxs, ive personaly never been around many, bcause we just a dealer in my area, but i know a guy who had one. and took a big loss on resale.i would look for a master KRL S-O box. they seem to hold value. but thats not a bad deal at all.

give it a thorough biohazard decontamination. tattooing puts very fine blood mist into suspension in the air, and that box no doubt was the landing site for it.

cool box, but "ewww"

Actually I do too. I have a two bay Proformance box and frankly, it's heavier and smoother and has a nicer finish overall than my Snap On. And that does seem a little high to me, but there is a lot of variation in box prices by region.

The one that came with mine doesn't have magnets; I've never seen one that does.
