found a 4225r for sale at a local pawn shop; i talked them down to 1480 after taxes
is this a good deal or not; my dealer said 2500 is going rate for a used 4225
its in pretty good shape; only saw one ding on it and it wasnt bad
i was wondering any of you that had one or used one and what you would pay
i have a good bit saved up and it seems to be a good deal; im full time at my job and i have a harbor freight 8 drawer
but i dont like the layout and i want a work surface

tldr should i just bite the bullet and buy it or just wait til they come down further on the price?:headscrat

I have a 4725, which is the same box that became the 4S when they changed model numbers. I drove 40 miles each way and paid $1200 for mine, private sale with no tax. So you're in the ballpark. I'm not crazy about the drawer layout in mine, which is identical to the stock photo you posted, but the box itself it great. Very heavy, smooth drawer slides, the casters are a little on the cheesy side but mine hasn't moved in three years so that's not a huge concern to me.

I have one in sublime green with a butcher block top on it. Love it. Thing is a beast and the drawers double as a ladder if you need to :) I will echo zrexxer. the casters are not the best but i move mine all day over a rough shop floor beaten from caterpillar dozers. The only thing I dont like is the 3 deep drawers. I would rather have traded one of them for two shallow drawers. I also am not a fan of the divider in the top drawer. at first I loved it but as i got more and more tools it really puts a damper on how you can organize that drawer. I think that is a great deal Id jump on it. That box and a few ratchets I have are the only thing I have ever bought from matco that I dont regret. My next box will be another matco I like them better than the other truck boxes by a long shot.

Yeah I'm of a like mind with Bob302; the deep drawers seem to be a waste. But regardless, that's what I'm using. Here's a shot in the trailer the day I hauled it home:

matco makes some nice boxes, that price seems about right. If you cruise craigslist for a year you might find a similar or better deal, but you certainly aren't overpaying.

too funny man^; i asked my matco dealer about it, he said these 4s boxes in memphis are coming out of the diesel truck school. Each student has a box and basic tools paid through their tuition, those that drop out usually pawn or sell them on craigslist
