^ Is that the video where they show the MATCO box getting crushed in a crusher? That's somewhat disturbing to watch.

Since that video is made by Snap On, would you expect anyone else to do better? Isn't it obvious that he couldn't collapse the Snap On frame because they added small gussets to the wooden box. He didn't even try to secure the Matco, Cornwell, or Craftsman in any way by replicating their construction. It's obvious they would fail because they weren't finished. Also, on the pull test, lets see the PSI applied before the failures.
When it comes down to it, I've said it on this site before & I'll say it again. Matco, Mac, & Snap On build good boxes. Go with what you like & the dustributor that you feel will give you good service & you'll be happy.
If you look at the pic & see how the top of the divider wall is not secure. I have seen a Cornwell box with poor weight distribuion cause the wall to shift & the drawers to stick. I've never seen it with the Snappy but have been told it can happen.
I do have a question that hopefully Pedro can answer. Why is it that every Snap On hutch that I've seen is not the same depth as the box? Is the shallower/deeper unit an option & techs aren't ordering? I'm just wondering. I've seen some Mac full depth & some not. I assume with them it's an option or it depends on the series.

Thanks daveblank for the picture. Good illustration...I'm not a mechanical engineer but looking at the Matco design with the horizontal support on top of the divider wall it sure seems that it would be stiffer and more robust. It does add a little bit of height.
I'm curious...How can Snap-On get away without the additonal support inside the wide drawers? Is it really the extra channels on the bottom of the drawer? What else do they do?

we have 2 hutches one that is 1in smaller form the front only to fit the lip on the ss top. we use stiffeners on the bottom of the box to avoid the whoe stiffening the inside of the drawer.
the diff between the snappy box and matco box are simple they add the shelf for support we don't, we don't need them, on the pull test each of the boxes took the same pressure and because of the "give" snapon put in their boxes it survived the test all the others either broke or buckled.
All of the tests snapon did to the boxes are repeatable and are shown how they were done in the dvds.
I've owned mac matco and 3 snapon boxes ... i stuck with snapon because of the storage and how secure i felt with my box. at the shop i worked at we had a break-in My snapon box at the time KRL1022 took a prybar sledge hammer and the box stayed closed and tools secure. i cant say the same for any of the other "high end" boxes at the shop. I purchased my current krl 1023 after that.

It was given to me by a trainer in Ohio. He stated that they went to a shop close by & asked some techs if they could do it.
