Ok I don't need a new box, I've got a two month old krl 1022. But my Matco guy is pretty determined lol. I think i like the idea of having a built in roll cart so doors anyone on here have one to share your thoughts of them.

My personal thought as someone who is getting ready to buy a 6331 is that it is stupid to give up that much space, just to have a cart that comes out of it, especially for the price.

However, I also have the luxury of only doing work in 1 bay, and don't ever need to roll all my **** halfway across a big shop. I think you'd still be better served with your box and a krsc46 or a matco cart, but that's just me.

The bath you're going to take on flipping your brand new snapon box would be enough to keep me from doing it.

He's trying to unload that dynamic work station on you. He knows he'll never be able to sell it. But he'd be able to sell your KRL1022 quick. Don't fall for it, keep your box.

The real questions you need to ask:
A: does it fit MY needs?
B: does it work for ME money wise?
C: will it make my life easier?

Answer these honestly and you'll have your answer. All of us have diffeent needs and money situations. I wouldn't ever pull the cart out, so the loss of space would be detrimental. If you could just move the cart vs. moving your entire box, it might work for you.

already offering more than I paid.

Unless the amount he's offering you is going to completely cover the cost of the Matco box, you're getting hosed.

I would NEVER want to be in a situation where I was making payments on 2 toolboxes at once, especially if one of them was already sold to someone else.

Sounds like this too.

its kind of gimmick-y unless you are short on space. i like having a welding cart and a welding table, but i dont have enough room. kinda forced at the moment to put some heavy casters on my weld table to make it portable when i need to move it.
for me this would be a good box. keep most of the tools i use in the roll around section. if you plan to keep it i wouldnt hesitate if its what you want, but if you are only going to keep it a short while and upgrade later, you may be biting yourself.

It sounds like for your application, a normal cart would be better. Park your main box against the hanger wall. Fill the cart with your most used tools and go from there. I don't think there being much to gain over a 1022 going to that set up. Three rows of narrow bank drawer, no thank you.

I'd never trade a box that had payments on it. With the kra trade I had on the krl I had the krl paid in a month.

Thanks for the input, I think I'll just talk to him about a roll cart. Now that I've been in the krl for a while I don't like how tall it is compared to my kra. The kra was stress free pushing it under low wings and around propellers that cost 1/2 of my annual income. The krl pushes easier and is more maneuverable but the extra height makes it cumbersome. I don't like the idea of loading a cart in the morning and unloading it in the evening. I also don't like an opening top taking away a work surface. Work surfaces are limited in my shop. Maybe I'll look at just getting a decent single bay. Thanks guys.

Look for a sliding top cart, or buy a smaller roll cab. Keep your day in day out tools in the cart. Use the main roller for storage of stuff you don't use everyday.

Regarding the work station with the built in roll cart, I could see where it could be a good idea for some. If the drawer arrangement were different I could entertain the idea. The cart part of it looks to be a little on the small side and short.

That's probably why the KRL722 and KRL7022 are the two most popular boxes for aircraft mechanics. They have a lower overall height which makes them easier to push around underneath wings. They're also the right height for a work surface. Sounds to me like you need to work out a trade with the snap-on man.

That cart box is very expensive for the amount of tool storage that you get. It appears to hold less than your average double bank box.
