That 1/4 drive looks like a little toy next to his big 1/2 drive brother! What is the over all length of that 1/2 drive?

Its a 17 incher. I was going to buy the 24" one they make, but I decided to piece together a 3/4" set for anything larger

I have that exact same ratchet.... my first reactions were not the best.... but it is growing on me for sure..... at least it stays unlocked..... which is more than you can say for the SO. I think it feels considerably lighter than the BR12FTA that I have... but it has sure proven me wrong on the "Heavy is Reliable" standpoint. very strong and its smoother every day.

I have their 3/8, 3/8 flex head, 1/4, 3/8 palm ratchet, 1/2 ratchet.

Love their ratchets. I constantly use them against the Snap-On 80's every single day. The Matco has nearly the same feel, it also has a slimmer head.

It went in areas on a Mercury Cougar, where the Snap-On head was too big!
You wouldnt think it would be that crucial, but in multiple cases, it has been.

I'm dying to have metallurgical analysis done on the Matco, Armstrong, Gearwrench, and Craftsmans that share similar guts, and see just how different these ratchets really are.:headscrat

Too funny I just dropped the hammer on a few 17, 24, and also started my 3/4" ratchet collection! :bounce: :spit:

Aside from Craftsman having the quick release version and cosmetic differences such as handle shape and locking versus non locking flexheads, I think you'd find that they're pretty much the same at least with the Matco and Armstrong versions.

I just bought myself a BFR118SPT. It's the 88 tooth spark plug bent handle. My neigbor is a matco dealer...the wife is not happy about that.

Similar yes, but not identical. That comes from our head of product engineering in Stowe, OH. There are internal differences. Save the cost of metallurgical testing, buy one of each and work with them. Then recommend the one the works/feels best for you.
