I saw these on the truck, I was intrigued. Curious how well they work

Six point spline? :dunno:

More like way off corner engagement. I've used them on E-torx (larger sizes) and regular nuts.

For me the jury is still out on the rounded fastener part. I did remove some rust shrunken Y-pipe hardware, but I used a few different socket sizes to be able to do it.

I use these all the time. Best sockets ever, seriously, sometimes they grip too well tho and they’re hard to get off bolts sometimes. But they rock, impact rated too

umm..... because metric and sae are different sizes robin.

yes there are some metric and sae sizes that are very similar. everyone knows that, but there are some sizes that are not. always, the best option is to use the appropriate size first. no matter whether it be sae or metric. if the fastener is worn or damaged, then you need to start hunting.

if you have used a quality spline socket or wrench (sk, bonney, snap-on etc,) in the correct size you would know that they work and work well. if you are using one of those off brand one set fits all sae/metric sets your experience will more than likely be different.

i have not used the sets the op lists but i would wager that they work and work pretty well. when push comes to shove the truck brands rarely offer something that doesn't perform at a pretty good level or the **** hits the fan and it usually never ends well.

I think Robin's point was that many spline socket sets work on both metric and SAE.

And I have to ask, how many of you have rounded a fastener with a 6-point? I'm only a DIYer with 4 vehicles, but I have never rounded a fastener...with anything.

I have rounded Exhaust nuts with regular 6 point sockets and have ran into many that have been rounded off by other mechanics

I saw this in the flyer I got from my Matco guy last night. I know he has some on the truck usually but I can’t say he’s ever pushed them very hard. But I have read several good reviews on them

I just personally don’t have much use for 1/4” deepwell metric impacts

Exactly. I only made the smartass comment because the advertisement stated these worked on 70% rounded off fasteners. Hell if they'll work on that much of a reduced point of contact you'd think these would be fairly universal. :dunno: :)

It’s a sharp setup if you ask me. It’s tempting it’s only money. There has been times I could have used them.
