Thank you...I was struggling for a good word to describe them. The design does look neat. I recall our dearly departed member Uncle Buck saying he had a set and was quite fond of them. Not sure if it was because of the style or how they felt in his hand.

it isn't that thick to me........that was merk's statement. they are slightly thicker than SO's and WAYYYYY more rounded which is what makes them more comfortable.
i usually play a game with guy's at the shop and hand them snappy, bonney/matco, mac and craftsman wrenches and ask them which one feel's better. 9 out of 10 say the bonney/matco's.

Well, the combo flare set I have DOES feel very comfortable. So, if the regular combos have that same feeling, then I do understand the appeal.
What do you figure an "attractive" price would be for a set of 11 or so in good condition?

I thought Bonney, Herbrand, and Utica were all combined into Triangle Tool Group. Later aquired by Cooper Tools. Did Snap on buy the name from Cooper?
I have some old Bonney wrenches and I use them all the time. I buy any I can find at pawn shops, flea markets ect. ***** theywere closed down.
bull, your line wrenches apppear to have a similar shape but the combos look like the may have a thinner beam. mine look just like krusty's. they look like they would be too thin to be comfortable but the shape of the handle is just right and the weight of them makes them very nice. my thorsens have a similar shape but the finish is not nearly as nice and do not even compare.

It's funny you say that about Thorsen. I have one oddball Thorsen in my loose wrench drawer. It has a much thicker beam than my other Thorsens, and in fact than most of the wrenches I own.
Almost new is too good for me...I can't afford it.
So, if a man of your experience says $100 would be an attractive used price, then that is what I am going to try and find.

i just won a WCL13m2 for $10.49 shipped so at $10 a wrench the $100 set would be close.
I always thought buying a set would be the most cost-effective. But, people seem to drive up the bidding of full sets, so maybe piecing together a set over time would be the smarter choice for me.

I have a pristine metric set of the later and somewhat-less-desirable "Outline" style...
Well, a set of 10 or so of that style in standard just sold on eBay for $70 shipped after being listed for about four hours. I was eye-balling it, but am holding out for the style Krusty is talking about here.

it all depends.......some times sets go cheaper but sometimes you can piece a set cheaper.

Why? Just because it is cooler to have a set by a company that no longer exists?
As for the set you posted a link to, I saw it when it was first listed (I search for Bonney wrenches on eBay about three times per day). The problem with that set is, you have nine pieces but only five fastener sizes.

The thing is, they wont sell for that little. Threads like this one and others on here in the past year basically ensure that there will be scrambling at the end of that auction to drive the price up. I feel lucky to have scooped up my complete flare nut combo set for like like under $40...very lucky.
Wrenchr, I prefer that finish, too.
Pic? I think I know the style, but not sure. If it's the kind I am thinking of, Rickster had one on here a couple months ago, and someone jumped on it right away. Must be something good about them.

i bought the one rickster posted..........i just thought it was cool. i don't think they are especially rare or valuable i just like the way it looks. it right here on my desk as i type.
you can find a pic in aa under bonney sockets and driver tools. looks just like the t35

i remember posting that at one time......they are very similar if not bonney made. there has been so much contract production in the tool business it's hard to keep track
