Interesting. BTW, there is a typo in your first sentence. "worked" should be "work".

Technically the $20 craftsman has a bigger head and only 36 teeth ( I think).

I think the Matco has 60 and a lower profile head.

wouldnt be that difficult to drive the pin out of the handle and change out the heads ... i think it smells very fishy considering a competitor has it and is using it to his benefit.

My matco stubby ratchet is 36 tooth. Just like my craftsman stubby ratchet.

This was a ratchet that one of my customers sent back to Matco for warranty replacement. They sent him back this one! It was a manufacturing mistake, but it shows where the ratchets are made.

Not really lol. Especially since neither has a ratchet manufacturing facility. So his little "clue" really offers no real clue of origin.

Should be no surprise that these guys are producing them.

Could be a marketing prop to brand bash, could be someone asleep at the assembly plant, who knows or cares other than the Snap on man?
I do feel that comparing brands across the Danaher/Apex line isn't a very good marketing strategy though. You might accidently point out to the tech that only flagged a few hours for the week, that a Danaher $20 stubby flexhead ratchet might do the job for you instead of paying $75 for the Snap on version.

This would not surprise me either. This actually first crossed my mind. I mean obviously the Snap-On man wants you to feel like spending huge amounts of $$$ on his tools is worth it.

Craftsman and Matco are made by Danaher. It's totally possible this is manufacturing defect that they overlooked.

+1 Can't believe everything we see on the interwebz. It's odd, as stated by others, that the new marketing campaign comparing SO/Matco/Cman recently came out, and now this shows up...

Yup. Things happen... just shows there are options for frankensteining a ratchet or two... I used to take my GIjoes apart and put different arms/heads/legs/bodies back together... Every see a Crimson Guard w/ a Gungho head? Now, if we can only figure out how to cut/drill the new Cman premiums to fit a flex:beer:

Anybody else notice the severe wear on the black oxide selector on the supposedly "from Matco" ratchet? I don't think Matco would send a used ratchet head to someone as a warranty return. I've never mailed in a warranty item to Matco, though, so I don't know if they do that.

It seemed like the Snap-On dealer bought it from the technician or traded it for a SO version. I assume he shows this ratchet to lot of people. So even though it sits in the tool truck mostly, a lot of people probably handle it.

Matco and Cornwell hardline tools are not made buy the company name sakes, Danaher is owner of Matco like Stanley owns Mac. Snap on tools are mostly made by the Wright tool company which are very good tools and are US made although some are from Taiwan. Want to see something cool, look at a De Walt saws all and a craftsman there the same thing! Mac tools are US made by Mac in there plant in Texas but they do have some that are also made in Taiwan.

That's really crazy because just last week my Snap On guy had the same thing! Stranger still, I was at a buddy's shop later that same day while his SO dealer was there and he had one too!

(I'm just stirring **** up. I don't have a shop. . . or a Snap On guy . . . or a buddy . . .:()

Pretty sad that the dealer had to stoop to that level just to try to steer people away from the Matco truck and buy his ratchets.

I wouldn't do business with a guy that pulls **** like that. Until someone confirms that Matco and Craftsman ratchets are made in the same plant or get sent to the same place for warranty issues, I say big time BS.

It would seem much more believeable if ONLY Danaher used a super special type of fastener/pin to lock in their flex head joints into their handles so that only Danaher tool dealers could service and take apart the ratchets.... :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Anyone can drive a pin out and drive it right back in....
how much trust do you instill in your Snappy dealer, ehhhhhhhh????

The 36 tooth ratchets were made at least in the same plant if not on the same line. When Danaher shutdown their plant in MA there were several guys at local swapmeets selling off stock they had gotten from the plant. The majority was Matco with some Craftsman Pro mixed in as well as oddball things like the Craftsman stainless ratchets. Now none of this is to say the ratchets are the same, only that they came from the same place.
