Matco floor jack problem, need advice

Have a matco floor jack, model mfj15. Love the floor jack, it's the only one that reaches underneath my car. (It's lowered 1.5 inches). I've had the jack over 10 years roughly, and noticed the bolt that holds the handle has stripped and is coming out of the frame. What do you think would be good option for repairing it? New bolt and retap frame?any other ideas?

Have you verified if its the bolt or frame or both that has thread issues? Outside of getting lucky and and only needing a new bolt, trying to clean up the threads enough to get some bite and/or maybe spot welding a corner of the bolt to the frame would be another option.

Btw looks like a Arcan low profile jack to me.

I guess I should rephrase my getting lucky statement in regards to just simply needing a bolt, I suspect that handle assembly bolt is just like most, very little threads near the hex and ending with a stud that pertrudes thru the assembly. Its not something you can find at your local hardware store, more than likely you will have to do some modification/maching or just melt some wire to keep it in place.

It looks upon closer examination it is a not threaded where it goes into the jack handle. I'm going to bring it to a welding shop and see if they can just tack weld the nut in place.

The Arcan Jack is a little less then half what I paid for this one, and almost the same price as the pump I bought when it failed 3 years ago. It is probably the same jack, just rebranded.

I'm not going to point any fingers, but it's pretty to easy to cross thread those bolts, I'm guilty as charged which is why I always snug them by hand versus use a impact. It's possible that when you swapped the unit one was crooked.. If you can't fix the threads the easiest solution will be to tack it.

All tool truck hydraulic floor jacks are rebranded, with that said sometimes you get a better warranty and service from the Oem for parts etc.

Matco guy took care of it for me. I dropped the ********, picked it up next week. He told me he replaced the pump. He's not in business anymore, so no recourse on that level.
