Picked up a Matco BFR8TG ratchet at the flea market this past weekend. It needs a rebuild kit (spring stuck in selector) and I have never seen a matco truck in the area. Couldn't find much information on it online. I know I can upgrade to the 88t internals, but I really don't need them and would rather get it warrantied. I saw on the matco website that they no longer make a hard handle ratchet so if I were to mail it in would they rebuild it or would they replace it with the newer 88t soft handle?

My guess is if you mail the ratchet to the company you will get a new ratchet. I have a 60 tooth flex Matco hard handle. I love it. I would never think about leaving it with a dealer or sending it into the company.

If I were you I would just order the rebuild kit or upgrade to 88t.

If your gears are good, all you need is a selector, spring, & a spring cup. If so, send me a PM with your address. I keep spare parts, so, sending those to you would be no problem.

No problem. If you have a set of diagonal cutting pliers that come to a good point, you can try & use them to grab the plunger.
