Matco Knurled Extensions

Does anyone have Matco's current knurled extensions? I am wondering how the detents are, and how deep they are. Thinking about getting a set, but I cannot look at them before hand(no truck).

Exact same as a USA craftsman extension, except with knurling.

I've considered the SKs, but I really like the double knurling on the Matcos. Fwiw, I have held one a while back and I recall it not having the goofy double detent like the Cman..I didn't oay any attention to the depth of the detent hence the reason for this thread.

MAC is the only manufacturer that I know of that double knurles their extensions on the shank and on the drive. Matco, Snap-On, SK etc.. all have the knurling only on the shank.

Matco has them too. I am not sure if they recently started knurling the drive.

With in the last couple years or so matco started knurling the drive as well. They are nice extentions. Not really worth the price though.

Those look nice, but dang! 90 bucks for 4 extentions! I am really starting to use my wobble extentions.......and I am breaking them. They are hf, and I am looking to upgrade. I will have to see if sk makes the wobble extensions. I have gotten by for so many years on cheap extensions......mostly pawn shop finds, like sk, proto, and my old crafstmans. (about the only craftsman stuff I have been able to rely on)

Yeah for me tool truck prices are a bit of a stretch for me to go for so I always check to see if the same item is available from the truck brand's industrial counterpart or if the item is a rebadged third party product.

Garage Journal has been invaluable for teaching me this information.

The nicest knurling I've ever handled was on Ko-Ken extensions. They're designed so they don't roll around on an uneven surface. I have a full set of Wobble Plus extensions from them in 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 inch drive.

Sorry though, no double knurling

^^If I ever put a set of wobble extensions together, it will probably be Kokens. How well do they stay locked in the non-wobble position?

Very well, it takes a firm tug to pull the socket into the wobble position from fixed. They are plenty strong, too. I've used them for brake work on a couple of Subarus which require you to use a long extension to go through an access hole behind the caliper to unbolt the caliper; I've leaned on a 2-foot breaker bar to break that bolt loose, and the extension held up just fine, and stayed in the locked position the entire time.

As far as extensions with double knurling: My other go-to set of extensions is from, of all places, Harbor Freight. They're the ones I bring with me to the junk yard, because they lock the socket onto the extension and won't let go without pulling on the release collar (no more lost sockets). They have knurling on the chrome shaft part of the extension AND on the release collar. The knurling isn't as deep on them though.

matco copied mac. I'm going to buy some mac extensions. I hace one and I prefer it over the copy.
