I haven't seen a thread anywhere else on this 3/8 impact, so I thought I'd write an ongoing review.
I'm still pretty new to this site, but anyone who's seen my posts anywhere else has probably realized that I like Matco tools. Well earlier this week when MotherMatco stopped by my shop, I asked what kind of 3/8 impacts he had. I told him I was considering the Snap On MG325 since I was so happy with the 1/2 counterpart. Of course the MatcoMan said he's got something better. He takes a payment and retires to his rolling fortress. He comes back with a Matco MT2138 3/8 impact demo gun. This thing looks rough because it's a demo unit, but I actually think that was better because if more techs have put their hands on it and abused it, it proves to me it's durability.
Dummy me forgot to snap a picture before I left work, so I'll shamelessly copy the picture from Matco's website =]

Matco wants about $285 but I bet I could talk my dealer down a bit. I do a lot of brakes and suspension work at my shop and this thing kept impressing me all day. Busted the lug nuts no problem. Caliper mounts came off like it was nothing. And this way I dont have to put my ratchet on the bolt and break in loose first, then put my air ratchet on it. Plus I dont have my air ratchet screaming in my ear anymore.
Today was kind of light duty. We'll see what comes up tomorrow. I'll grab a picture of the actual demo unit and I'll make a decision on whether to buy it or not by next Tuesday
