I see all the various models of rebranded Matco scanners on ebay for cheap. Any reason why they are being sold for so low and anything particularly good or bad about them?

Thanks!

I bought this exact model from this seller a few months ago and it has been perfect. He has 100% feedback and sold many many scanners. He's legit and its not a scam. It is not rebranded or fake. It is cheap because it was burned in 2013 and it is now 2016. The website claims to work up to 2010 vehicles, but I have successfully used it on a 2012 Nissan Frontier, 2007 Chevy Trailblazer, 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and a 1998 GMC Sierra. It works awesome and is the same thing as Actron CP9580A.
Here's the link to the eBay ad http://www.ebay.com/itm/Matco-Tools...:g:2awAAOSw5dNWjZgy&item=291708495285&vxp=mtr

Here it is on Matco's website https://www.matcotools.com/catalog/product/MD1400/MATCO-CODECONNECT-SCAN-TOOL/

I did a lot of research before buying a scanner and this one did everything I needed it to do. I made sure to message the seller before buying to confirm it was not a scam. This way, if I did get ripped off, I could show eBay the message and they would reimburse me my money.

can that be updated with the USB cable it comes with for 2016?

the first link is for MD1300 $38.99, the second link is MD1400 $64.99. which one is updated/burned in 2013?

for $40 I wouldn't mind having another tool that can show LIVE PID's, without having to use the laptop...

Did some research. Most common complaint is dificukty of updating. Since I just need strait forward obd2 the md1300 should be fine. (we have a laptop at work anyway)

Thanks.

does anyone know if the updates are free? I see on the matco site they list updates for like $159...would not be cool to have to pay for updates and then not have them work. now if they are free, that is a better deal all around.

Good stuff, thanks for the info! If they're still available after the first of the month, I might just have to pull the trigger on one.
