I would go with victor or harris only for O/A torch stuff.

For that price I would just purchase a real Victor setup from somewhere.
They have probably the most common availability of parts.

Yes there are a few other good brands out there, but, I don't think the one you've showed ranks up there especially price considered.

I have an old Victor that I seldom use but has always worked perfect.
Although a buddy of mine bought a $100 eBay chineese Victor knock-off about 3 years ago and has used it as a hobbyist with no problems either.

Just me but when you're playing with a mixture of highly flammable gas in your hands behind a flame I want a long proven high quality tool.

Or Smith. That Matco could be a rebadged Victor, but to me, the regulators look more like a rebadged Chinese Victor clone. I wouldn't touch that with a 10 foot pole.

cool, i'll probably just go with smith or victor since that's what I use at the shop. This is just for home use. Got a set of bottles and a cart for a steal (i think) so now need to get the torch. I thought maybe the matco was a rebadge, and I found one cheap, but didn't know.

I'd go with Victor, new or used you can't beat it. You will always be able to get service, support and accessories for it no matter where you are.

$331.....handle, 3 tips, a cutting head with 1 tip, a rosebud, hose, a box and 2 single stage regulators.....
1st you'll pitch the box....the regulators, hose and handle will be on the tanks........

i cut with a Victor J28 with a 550J head....it'll go through 6"
for heating, forming i use a rosebud on the J28
the handle weighs 6.2 oz, with the cutting head 1lb 7.6oz

for welding/brazing the one and only PUROX 00D with interchangeable mixers and no O-rings:thumbup::thumbup:

talk about handy......the torch and all 5 tips weighs 10.8 oz
with a #3 tip, the torch weighs 5 oz:thumbup:

i have an XLD #7 tip, 0.073" orifice.....so it can weld the big stuff too
but when you're brazing racing tube chassis all day long, do you know how nice it is to have a 5 oz torch in your hand? and not have to fight the Siamesed hoses?????

get on ebay or C/L you should be able to get the full set up
torch, tips, cutting head and tips, hoses and regulators for $75-$100
thats Victor or PUROX(Linde/Union Carbide)
the ones i prefer

you come to my house and need to gas weld or braze? you use my Victor......NOBODY touches my PUROX 00D.....it has served me well for 53 years....a little tarnished but still in excellent condition
Oh, i have spares:beer: the one here on my desk....only the #3 tip has been used and the lacquer is still perfect from the '30s
