I have used the matco screwdrivers and loved them but not the price so much $150 for the 8pc set. SSPCG8C

since they are just the Witte Maxxpro Plus screwdrivers being sold threw matco can I get a witte branded 8pc set some where for a lower price. I have looked but can only find this 5pc http://www.amazon.com/WITTE-654865-5-Piece-Phillips-Screwdriver/dp/B0017SYUMS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1262181466&sr=8-1-fkmr0 but that is a nature set what ever that is.

So is there a set out there like the 8pc matco with out quite as big price tag?
I have all so been looking for a good used set with no luck yet.

i actually love the matco screwdrivers. alot better than snappys imo. plus when u break one u get a whole new one. not just hammering off the handle. the phillips are awsome they are the only ones ive seen take out some of thottle body screws without stripping them.

Try Chadstoolbox.com they have a pretty darn good selection of Witte. I'm still kicking myself for not picking up a used Matco set for $60 about 6 months back.

I think Witte only offers 5 or 6pc sets. Drillspot.com has them for example starting at $31.85 , Grainger too starting at 44.50$

I tried a set from Chads a while back when I was paranoid about WERA going to the Czech's. They are now stocking the sets and have several in the sale category. Individual pieces are 1-2 week special order last time I asked, but they have all the sets that are on sale.

I don't know if you'll find the exact same set elsewhere. Many times companies spec out their own set contents. They do this so they can be different from everyone else.

A perfect example would be a set a customer was looking for. He had the Kobalt Pass Through socket set in 1/4 & 3/8 inch in the same box. These were made by Gearwrench. I've ordered him replacements from Gearwrench when he lost some sockets. He wanted a second set for his father. Through Gearwrench they're not available as a combo set. Obviously Kobalt spec'd the set this way when they ordered them.

No matter how they come, its half the price as the truck. Only downside is warranty is mail in instead of trade with the truck, but its getting harder and harder to get truck warranty, many drivers give you a guilt trip and make it feel uncomfortable to try to ask for warranty anymore.

Just jumped on the Witte side of the fence today when I had to turn in a well used Matco purple hard handle with a broken tip.
Matco guy asked if I heard the joke about Matco screwdrivers, "Matco gives you a new screwdriver not just the shaft" ha ha
Walked off the truck with a new Witte replacement. Haven't got to use it yet but I'm hoping it's a good brand.
