I saw this kit at a pawn and I could probably get it for $40. It looked like it had never been used. Would this be a good tool to add to the arsenal?

Matco has it listed for $126 but it seems to be worth about $50 in ebay money.

For $40 I would consider buying that. I don't know if I'd ever use it though, I've gotten by all this time without any types of special tools to change serp-belts which I feel to be fairly simple 99% of the time. Any issues I've had with squeezing a belt into place couldn't be made easier with a tool. But still, I like tools, I like good tools and I really like good tools in blow-molded plastic cases with little indents to keep everything in place.

As long as it was made in the USA I would likely purchase that set at that price.

That is exactly how I feel, I am trying to draw the line between tool hoarder and tool user and I am having trouble.

It is very useful on some cars, as a DIY guy I had trouble with a volvo and used this set. Now I just go get it when I am doing a serp belt. It has a lot of adjustability. It is not made in the USA, but $40 is not too bad, I think I paid $50 new at NAPA.

That kit is very cool, as a heavy truck guy I have not had an opportunity to use one
until the other day on a GMC Savanna. It made the job really easy. I am looking into getting myself a kit like this soon.

yes, its a gearwrench. yes its imported. yes its a rebrand. its too much off the truck. $40 is not too much. used is not new. i have one. i love it. if you cant find a use for this tool, open the hood on a modern front wheel drive vehicle. yes, most can be done with a wrench or the cheap HF tool, but this thing will get at anything anywhere (just about)

So...to the OP...yes, my opinion is that it is a worthwhile tool to have at your disposal, and at a fair price.

Its great on the I6 Volvo engines. Handy but not needed on almost every belt job. I'm happy with mine. COO really dosnt matter its qaulity is good.

Add me to the list of people who have this kit and love it for getting into those tight engine compartments. At 40 bucks it is a good deal. If you think you could use it then pick it up. Hell its a pawn shop right, offer the guy 30 for it and see if you get lucky.

That kit is a lifesaver. It's too much off the truck since you can walk into sears and get the exact same thing branded as Gearwrench, but for $40 it's a deal.

Yup, I dont do a lot of various models, about once or twice I had somethin that had to make a tool for, don't have it anymore and havnt needed a special tool since but,,, at 40$ ( hard to go wrong) and if I was sticking my head under the hood on regular basis I am sure as by testimonial here it would be worth its weight.
