I personally love Matco tools. Used 24/7 by mechanics in our shop with very few failures. The price looks decent. If you need them or are updating go for it.

I would say so. Thats a little under 50% of retail, which is usually a good starting price for used tools. I would say not a bad price at all.

I'd say buy the new set for $150, unless you want to play the auction game. There's a Matco 111pc set now for $50 but still has 3days left.

The ratchets are the weak point on that set. If you are a tech & they will see constant use, get some better ratchets.

No, Im not a tech. Just working on my Harley's and cars. Im a HVAC tech and I use very little wrenches. Its funny, my most used tools as an HVAC tech are 1/4, 5/16 nut driver, multi meter, 4 in one screw driver, and my drill.

Is silver eagle like to matco like blue point is to snap on?

Yeah, I think most of it (if not all) is Taiwan, as with Blue Point. Pretty good looking stuff, but the ratchets are definitely rougher than I'd like. Perfectly fine for weekend wrenching, of course, but the ratcheting itself felt, to me, very much like a Raised Panel. Nicer construction than the RPs, though.

To OP: That's a very complete set for $150. I'm sure they'll serve you well. If you have ready access to a Matco truck, the service will definitely add value to that purchase.

I have and use professionally a silver eagle 1/4 set, I've yet to break a socket even using them repeatedly on an impact. The ratchet however, I've warranteed 3 times in a year.

It looks like a great buy for a truck brand, as long as the seller has a receipt. I have spent nearly that much alone for an SK 3/8 drive socket set with about the same number of 3/8 drive pieces, not including the 1/4 inch and the combination wrenches. I haven't looked, but I think that set from Snap-On would be $900-$1,000.

Is Siver Eagle equivalent to Blue Point from Snap-On? If so, i would lower my estimates considerably but still looks like a good buy.

I have a lot of silver eagle sockets which have been trouble free as well as silver eagle torx which have been the best i have ever used. The ratchets, while not as nice as Matco or Snap on are much better than Craftsman Rps and should last a lifetime based on your intended purpose.

I have a Matco SE 18mm swivel socket that broke yesterday the first time I used it. (There is nothing really on a BMW thats 18. Took me buying a Ford.) Ive moved since I bought them. Can you send in tools to Matco to warranty them?

I wish I bought the spline style.

I bought the 1/4 Silver Eagle set through my Matco student account and got a 1/4 88 tooth ratchet for free.
