So I bought a set of Matco sockets SBUPM106V under the impression they were THE Matco swivel sockets. How good are these ADV ones compared to the real thing?

They are basically Sunex swivels with the Matco pricetag.

They don't compare well to the pinless ones imo

Thanks for the info. I am a little disappointed - maybe more than a little and am considering paying off my Matco tab

So you order the wrong part number and now you'll never do business with the company again?

Makes sense

I have some of the old pin style Matco's,
and one pinless,
and I like the pin style better.

Pinless has more play and the base of the socket is taller/slightly fatter.

^Both types USA made.

edit, are the pinless known to have rotational play in them?

@WhataTool - I didn't order by part number, it was from my friendly neighbourhood dealer.

@Ji_m - thanks for the comparison, I have never physically seen the pinless so that makes for a great reference point.

We had a chat and chalked this down to a communication error. I will be upgrading to the set I wanted in a few weeks.

Glad you got it worked out. I rarely use swivels so my Pittsburgh Pro set works just fine

I think Cripe had a set or two of the old US made Gearwrench pinless 3/8 drive metric impact swivel sockets for like $150 plus shipping.

The new Gearwrench X Core pinless impact swivel sockets are no longer US made with Armstrong out of business. I don't know who is making Matco's pinless impact swivel sockets now.

Those are them. I'm not sure where they're made because one person said china but, someone else said Taiwan. :dunno:

If you find out put it on here if you don't mind. I got them pin style impact sockets (like that no pin design). Them x-core ones were kinda hard to find.

Gearwrench says China. The design is more important than COO though of course like most i'd prefer US manufacture.
