this is driving me crazy! the drawer glides keep detaching themselfs from the box (not the drawers) and i have to keep taking the drawers off to get them back attached to the box. i last time i had the drawer off i saw that there was a hole for a screw or something with the glide fully extended. i wasn't sure if i put a screw in there that it would get in the way of the rest of the glide. i would rather not rivet the glides if i have to replace them down the road. here is the numbers off the back of my box:

MB6300
Serial Number- 256007
Mfg Date- 8-4-95

I'm not familiar with Matco specifically...but there should be a "stop" that keeps the slides from moving past a specific point so they don't come out like they're doing on yours.

It sounds like that hole is where the stop goes. So this this happening on all the drawers? Can you find a small screw that will fit the hole and see if that works?

I have had problems like this on a Blue Point Snap-On box and my Mac service cart; in both cases the "tabs" that keep the ball bearing sliders attached to the drawer (or attached to the inside of the box itself), go loose over time and usage. I just took all of them out and bent the "tabs" back inward with a pair of pliers or lightly tapped them with a hammer; this ended up tightening up all the drawers/slides/inner sliders and the drawer action has improved immensely! Hope this helps! All these boxes see too loosen up in the slides/drawers over time...

You need those screws there. They're real short, only 1/4 inch long overall and a threaded length of just 1/8 inch. The thread pitch is 8-32. They screw in through the drawer and into the slide member. Usually there's one on each side of the drawer going into each slide.

it does this on all of the drawers i have 3 off track now and more to come! :lol_hitti i know that inside the drawer it's self it has screws that go through the drawer and thread into the track. the box it's self is not threaded looks like it never had screws in there before. will the matco dude sell these screws or can i get them at a hardware store? does it matter how long they are or do they have to be that short? will the head of the screw interfere with the track?

Someone has removed the screws that hold the slides to the box, probably to make the box lighter so it could be moved easier. It did not come from the factory with no screws. If you can not find the correct screws, you can use a small rivet. If you ever need to change the slides in the future, you can drill the rivets out! No problem.

I'm bumping this thread because I don't know if the guy ever saw the picture I posted. I sent him a PM notifying him that I edited the post to show the screws........never heard back from him though.

ok i'm back i have been really busy with work. almost all of my drawers have fallen off track now and i looked at the hole in the inside of the box and it is not threaded or missing paint around the hole. it seems to be that there has never been screws in there  thanks for the pic of the screws but the heads look a little big won't those get in the way of the slide? i missed the matco guy today i didn't even know the truck was outside until i saw him pull away! do you think the guy will fix it for me? it is going to take a while to fix all of the drawers i don't think my boss will like that :lol_hitti

thanks for the pic of the screws but the heads look a little big won't those get in the way of the slide?

The head is on the inside of the drawer ... the threaded shank threads into the slide, but it's so short, that it won't interfere with the other slide member sliding passed it.
