ron, you need to make him an offer. he obviously needs to sell it.

What Jlenander said a couple of post above is accurate. I got the same impression he got from talking to them. The seller is not ready to sell the box for what most people would be willing to pay. I believe if you don't offer them something very close to what they want you are wasting your time. Maybe they will be ready to sell at some time in the future, but certainly not right now.

ARE YOU SERIOUS?!!?

It clearly looks orange with blue handles in the eBay photo

I was mistaken it is orange. I called seller after auction end to see if they were in my ballpark price wise, which they are not and asked about the color too.

I have actually called and spoken to his wife twice and him once. I told them I was interested in the box, and I'd like to come have a look. I asked if they were at all flexible on the price and each time I was told "no, we've lowered it already". I don't believe that the number of times a price has been lowered has any direct relationship on how close it is to a "marketable" value. Like most of you, I think the price for this box is too high, but I wish him luck in finding someone who doesn't think so!

It may be a good idea to submit a reasonable verbal offer and leave your name and contact information. If the seller does not sell within a reasonable time, he may come calling on you. You could even give him a time limit on your offer.

How much does it cost to run it on eBay each time?
I've not sold anything in at least a year. I think they way they do it now you pay a small fee to list the item and you don't pay anything else unless it sells. Also if an item doesn't sell I'm thinking they let you relist for next to nothing because ebay wants you to sell it so they can get a percentage of sales price.

They still have not sold it. They said they don't want to go to much lower than $4000 because of the "size of the box and the value". I told them I did not know how they access value but I was willing to pay in the ballpark of what an identical box sold for in Florida, which was $3100. I send them the link to that sale. That sale was a month or so ago. I would think that with lots of people worried about the economy and their jobs that the pool of people willing to pay thousands of dollars for a tool chest must be getting smaller.

I'm thinking since Ron is obviously so heavily infatuated with the box and is keeping such close tabs on the it, he ought'a go ahead and buy the damn thing; over priced or not. :bounce:

If the box is in new condition and you're saving money off the cost of a new box, AND you're in love with it. . . buy it! :bounce:
