Looking to see if anyone has some info on new slides that will work for a 1992 Matco MB1900. Most of them seem to work fine but a few are sticking and one in particular needs alot of force to open or close past a certain point. Gonna try clean and lube them up but if I need to replace them would be helpful to know which place to look for them. Thanks

Have you called Matco to check on availability?
Yes. He doesn't have a parts list for that box anymore! So no help with anything which *****. Ive read some other posts about people with snap on boxes and good luck getting parts from snap on. Maybe ill have to look at a snap on box down the road instead lol

I have what seems to be the same issue with my Matco box. I don’t know the model number, but it probably dates to around the same time as yours. My dad bought it for me used well over 20 years ago and it was at least a few years old at that point. Almost all of the side drawers are difficult to extremely difficult to open. The drawer slides out OK initially, but once the second half of the slides starts moving it binds up really bad. I also find little pieces of what seems like nylon in the drawers. They are very sticky, seeming if they’ve deteriorated from age. The wider center drawers seem to work OK. I’ve been meaning to reach out to Matco as well, but it seems like it’s probably useless from what you’ve said. I wish I could help, and I’m hoping someone here has an idea. Also, where do I find the model#?

I'm working on a cleanup of a recently acquired MB8535 right now. All the drawer slides are being removed, thoroughly cleaned and lubricated.
Matco told me the slides are discontinued, but good cleaning and lube will take care of most of the problem.

Your box looks to be a bit newer then mine. I like it! I just checked out that link posted below some good info on there. Def a bit disappointed in Matco in regards to the ability to get parts. He couldnt even get a parts list. Only thing I can get is new locks at $158 🫠

Thanks, I’ll check that out. Nice score on the box. I admittedly haven’t done anything to the slides to rectify the situation so I shouldn’t complain. I’ll see if I can get a picture of the plate on the back of the box to determine model#, etc. Yours looks identical to mine with the exception of the top drawers on the sides. I have two shallow drawers where you have one deeper. My top right drawer has a lid on it and seems more for storage of paperwork, etc. Seems like a waste to me. Other than the slider issues I have no complaints about the box as far as construction. It has been way more than I’ve needed as a home toolbox, but after I stopped working and brought the all of my tools home it is not big enough and/or laid-out well for my usage. I don’t know how much ‘stuff’ you have, but I can’t fit all of my sockets in the top drawer. It is divided into two sections, which would be fine with fewer tools, but it doesn’t work for me. Plus, I’d rather have the top drawer be the full width of the box. My other issue is that there are no other wide drawers, so my really long ratchet handles and wrenches have to go in the socket drawer. As you can see, I had to start piling sockets on top of one another, and I still have about 50 more with nowhere to put them.

Thats alot of sockets! I just finished cleaning out the rest of the draws on the box I got so can clean it up and put my tools in. The process of organizing and cataloging all the tools I found in the storage unit is gonna take some time but definitely some good stuff in there just wish I found a complete set of older snap on screwdrivers because those are my favorite lolThanks, I’ll check that out. My top left drawer is like your right, has a lid with a lock and im not sure what im gonna do with it yet, maybe try see if I can remove the lid make it more usable!

Is the circled number in the photo a model # for the Accuride slide?
Seems so. I did find them but the price i saw was $96 for 1 slide!!! I think after I organize all my tools im gonna work on cleaning and lubing the slides and if they ever all fail ill probably just roll the box off a cliff as it would be cheaper to replace the entire thing then just the slides lolIs the circled number in the photo a model # for the Accuride slide?
Mine dont have a number when I open it they just say Matcoglide but im gonna assume ill find one if I keep digging.

There was another thread recently that I replied to about this.
Call Matco corporate customer service. They supplied me with replacements, for free, for a 1994 built MB951CB top and MB950CB roll cab.
I did however have to drill for the little retaining screw as that had been moved. Otherwise they fit and function perfectly.

I called corporate. He didn't even have a parts list for it. Ive read others couldn't get parts for a 96 box so maybe its luck? Or how long they made that particular box idk.
Right now having issues with 2 drawers. The rest seem like a bit of cleaning and lubing up will help

Mine slid just fine, it was the rubber detent that holds the drawers closed when not lock that just rotted and crumbled away.
I havent seen anything rotted but havent looked too close. The one drawer that has the biggest issue is the 4th one down In the middle. It locks up half way in or out, if I pull really hard on first pull or pull with both hands I can get it to open up all the way/close

I've spent a bunch of time messing with my drawer slides. I'd recommend cleaning them very well and getting them lubed. Then look at the bearing cages for any bent tabs.
I'm finding that installing the slide on the drawer out of the box makes it easier to spot where it's binding
Good idea. Im gonna get to it eventually, right now im spending about 30-45 min every night just getting it emptied and cleaned up so I can put my own tools in it. 3 kids and too mnay other things to take care of so its a slow process
Going through all the tools will be my next step so can start selling them because they are taking up alot of room then ill focus on the slides. Just glad to have more space so can get organized sticky slides and all!
