It wouldn't be worth it to me at Full price, I'm fully capable of setting jack stands to the proper height prior to releasing the jack, and by chance I'm one notch too tall.. Pull it out and drop it 1 notch or raise the jack.

Maybe go look at them and see how they are made... Something about 2nd hand jack stands that make me nervous.

if there only $50 and in good shape buy em I would. The HF stands are really that bad I don't own any us made jack stands personaly because there so friggin expensive. I have performance tool stands they are just like the hf models.

As simple as it may be, I'd be far too concerned to risk my life or another persons on HF's manufacturers quality control. Peace of mind alone, would be worth it to me. Especially at merely $84 versus $45.

For a professional recommendation, I would say stick with reputable brand.

For a man-to-man recommendation, HF brand made in China is the way to go. If I can live with Wal-Mart's Made in China stands, HF shouldn't be any different.

I have a set of the HF 6-ton stands. No issues with them whatsoever. Made in China is Made in China. Whether it says Matco on it or not. For what it's worth, I use them for my Dodge Cummins 3500 Ram (8,000 lbs +/-) and no problems...

Well I bit the bullet and picked them up. $50 for the pair in "once used" condition. PO said he used them once and then they just sat. I don't think it was a steal, more like a fair price?

My thinking was that I could wait for a coupon from HF and purchase their 6 tons for ~$40 OTD on sale with a coupon. However the resale value on the HF would probably be minimal, say $20 if I was lucky. Where as with these I have a feeling I could resell them and get my $50 back out of them if need be seeing as how they are a name brand and retail for $130. So my loss if I had to resell would be less on the Matco. At least that is they way it works in my head :spit:

Overall they seem nice. I really wish they didn't say "Made in PRC, Danhar Co.". The fit and finish seems nice. I am not real crazy about the auto lift feature. They have a gas shock in them that raises the column automatically so you don't have to, marketing  ~15" to 24" height adjustment, 10.5x11.5" base.

O well, I am content with them. They are something that I needed, hopefully I didn't make a mistake buying them. I have been trying to talk a group of friends into the joint purchase of a mid rise lift, but this will have to do until then. ;)

Something about 2nd hand jack stands that make me nervous.

I was hoping you would give your thoughts on these. I highly agree with that statement, and normally wouldn't have, but given their condition..... Lets hope for the best.

Made in China is Made in China.

Sadly, I too have this feeling

For a professional recommendation, I would say stick with reputable brand.
.

Yes I definitely am not a brand fan boy, but would like to think that if a large reputable comp like Matco is going to put their name on something, that the item shouldn't be dangerous junk?

Here are the new (to me) 6 tons next to one of the 2 tons (also china) that was on loan to me from a friend. Not very confidence inspiring to say the least.

Does HF offer the "Quick Lift" feature?

No :D

I think I found the real manufacturer. "Omega" calls them the magic lift. Matco ($128), Omega ($100) and Blue point ($125) all sell the exact same ones. Even have the same sticker locations. Cheapest I found on line was $99.99

In the end I think I am happy with them, if something better comes along hopefully I can get my $50 back out of them. Until then I will use them. If you don't see me post for a while, you will know what happened
