It looke like an antenna nut socket, but the lugs seem to be thick for that.

It's lists in the computer as a 1/2 Truck Spanner Socket.

I have a similar tool made by OTC except it's hex shaped and you put a socket or wrench on it. I used it on the front end of my Jeep CJ5 that I had at one time. If I remember correctly it was to remove a castle nut type bushing.

I've used a similar tool to pre-load a tapered bushing on the upper ball joint on older trucks.

Just like you have all said already. hehe.
