I've been looking for some type of heavy duty rubber material that I can cut and place on the top of my side box so I wont scratch the paint. I cant really find anything besides cheap perforated material.

Any ideas? Places to buy?

Thanks

Find a big, truck mudflap and cut it to fit. They are thick, tough and heavy. Or, find a piece of a discarded pickup bed mat. Livestock stall or trailer floor liner may work too.

Buy one of those rubber mats used for standing at work benches to save on your back.

Great ideas here guys, thanks.

I think what I'm looking for idealy is a thin rubber mat that has striations in it. The type of mat that comes on top of the US General 13-drawer toolbox, but without their logo lol

I've searched to no avail

Try looking for a flooring mat that is used in a high traffic area to reduce carpet wear. The one I had came on a big roll like carpet and was sold by the foot. The roll was around 8-10 feet wide, maybe more.

The striations kept small parts from rolling around and getting mixed up.

We have a roll of it at work we use to occasionally replace as "non slip liners" on the shelves under our counters. I'm sitting here this morning looking at the roll but can't find a maker on it. Its 24" wide with grooves or serrations in it. Its about 1/8" thick or so.

I'm pretty sure you can get it at most home supply stores.. they sell it with the mats and flooring.

I used conveyor belt on my workbench. You usually can find scraps pretty easily. The local supplier for belting has end of new rolls that is to short for them to use. It comes in all different thicknesses and textures (smooth or rough). I posted my workbench top here--post #28

It would be too thick for the side box, but would work, if the thinner belting was used.

Il check Lowes in the flooring section. Thanks for the help

They have rolls of ribbed conveyor belt-like rubber in the flooring section at our Lowe's. I think it's intended for stair steps. Seems like it's 36" wide.
