The exhaust port on the back of my new Beacon-Morris BRT045 hanging garage heater is a single wall "stub".
It needs to mate with the double-wall B-vent that goes through the ceiling and the roof.
The inner wall of the B-vent and the "stub" on the heater are exactly the same diameter, so I need to fashion a "sleeve" to fit over both.
I'm finding references on the web that say this "sleeve" has to be aluminum to match the inner wall of the B-vent, and cannot be fastened with stainless screws due to the heat and chemical make-up of the soot being corrosive, and aluminum thickness must be right, etc.
The aluminum inner wall of the B-vent is pretty thin. Can't see it holding screws very well.
Is all this true? Can't galvanized tube work?
I've got a good dimensional match with some galvanized tube but the seam is so thick it will leak like a sieve around the contact area. (See below).
Will "standard" 4" tube fit over the heater stub and the crimped end fit inside the B-vent inner wall?
Any pearls of wisdom from the GJ brain trust?
