So. I may not have the fanciest of workshops, or all the correct equipment (slowing fixing that) but this is a throw together of stuff, to make a firebasket to sit around when camping.
As long as it lasts over next weekend I'm happy.

Anyone wondering about the two welders, cheap hobby MIG for quick tacking (hold with one hand tack with the other and look away!) which is the best I could go for on a 230V 13Amp circuit (UK Single-phase)
and the much better quality stick welder for proper runs there-after.

So. First things first.

The base tray. I do not as of yet have a pillar drill, so this wasn't made at home. Its shaped like that to allow an ash pan to sit underneath.

Added the top and the corners:

All the other pieces:

And then I added a grill. Which I forgot to take pics of.

So I'll get some bits of box section. And mark it up like so and then cut it out:

Multiply the above by 4 and stick it in place:

Include the obligtory weld close-up picture:

I also forgot to take pics of the ash pan. But you can see it on the left of this picture, which I took to illustrate my "I don't have a press-brake"

Whole thing is currently drying from a coat of high temp paint. More pics to come.

Round bar btw, is 12mm (half inch)
Top is 450mm (18") square
Lower is 300mm (12")
Box section is 40mm square (about inch and a half)

If you're planning on supporting a truck, then this will make a fine jackstand. Very strongly built.

You're getting a lot of welding practice, and that's something I need to do as well.

Er yes, I tend to over-engineer things. Its made out of the 12mm because it was all little offcuts from an actual job (I actually get paid to stick bits of metal together, this is more hurried/slapdash to get it sorted for next weekend)
This is why the base was made at work, and thus properly in a proper workshop with proper equipment. If I'd have made it there I would have have done the whole thing with a proper MIG (UK 3-phase 415V)

I've jumped up and down in the basket. Didn't even go ping :)

I like your box pan brake, wish I had seen it sooner before I hammer/dollied the edges of some drawers I cut down...
