I have a couple of questions about my garage/shop
I'm using Pex, what would be the best diameter 1/2" or 3/4"
What would be the max length for each run, I have heard 100'
is this correct. I'm going 5" of concrete except where my hoist
will go
What is the best boiler for efficiency and cost
thanks guys

1/2 is what I've seen used although some pex manufacturers push bigger sizes, they claim better heat transfer???

300 ft would be closer to max length from what I've heard, probably depends on the size of the pipe also

My system consists of 11, 250' loops of 1/2" tubing. My boiler is made by Triangle Tube, it's a high efficiency, modulating boiler. It does my radiant in floor, my domestic hot water and 2 air handlers. It's not a cheap boiler but I'm a strong believer in the "get what you pay for" thing.

How far apart did you lay each length from each other
thanks

You can go 300' with 1/2" tubing. 12" center to center on the spacing is normal, with 6" center to cent on the first 2 or 3 runs next to exterior walls. I second the vote on the Triangle Tube Boilers. I've installed a bunch of them with no problems.

Not to be a d**k, but do a search on "radiant" in this forum, you will find a ton of info on almost all of your questions, including links to a couple very good design documents, and some good suppliers. Do your own research so that you can form your own opinions and more than likely learn enough to do the job yourself.

As Tuna said, 12" spacing in a straight run, 6" near ext walls and openings. If you decide to do it yourself find a supplier that will spec your system off of your prints, sizing and layout.
