max jax foot size?

Im thinking of pulling the trigger but want to get an idea of spacing. I can't seem to find it, but i might have missed it. What size is the max jax base foot? Second question, i might be closer to 10" from a seem. Would it be a good idea to cut out that area and pour a small reinforced pad that spans the two existing pads?

The foot size on my MaxJax is 14-1/2" x 13". The 14-1/2 dimension is the width of the pad as you face the post on the vehicle side.

The important dimension will be the distance between the two posts. So whatever spacing will be needed to raise the vehicle, add 26 more inches to the overall width of the MaxJax.

As far as the surface, you need to have a solid footing and a 4" minimum depth of the floor to use the supplied wedge anchor mounting components. Also make sure there are no cracks in the floor where the mounting bases will sit.

When I did my install, I drilled a couple of test holes and found that the concrete was only 2-1/2" thick where the bases would sit. I wound up cutting out two 4'x4' areas in the floor and poured new concrete that was 12" deep. I used 8" epoxy anchors to secure the posts.

so you mean if the car i plan on raising is 75" wide space the posts 100" apart inside to inside? Or do you mean if i set my post 80" inside to inside figure 105" outside due to post/footprint?

With my setup, the distance between the inside edges of the post bases is 105" and the distance between the outside edges is 131". My car is 70" wide. The posts need to be far enough apart so that the pads on the lifting arms can be placed at the car's jacking points wherever they may be.

With that 75" width of your car, I would place the posts so that the inside edges of the pads are at least 110" apart. That makes the outside edges of the bases around 136" apart (13" x 2).

hmm good info, might not be able to use the max jax how i want. Garage has finished walls and 20 wide exterior. So probably closer to 18 interior and we always park two cars there.

Tony, well that's kind of the advantage of the MaxJax. You can easily remove one or both lift post to store away so you regain all your garage space when not in use. Check out the review Ryan made on the MaxJax back in 2009, there's a great picture of how he stores the lift once no longer in use.
