Hi, I have a 13 foot tall garage door that opens 12-1/2 foot under normal operating conditions. I need more of an opening to get my camper in the building so I have been propping it open with a 2 x 4 and getting the 13 foot. Does anyone have a solution , like a catch , etc ? Oddly enough my two 12 foot tall doors open the full 12 foot , the 13 foot door in question only 12-1/2 foot good figure.

It *should* open to clear it’s nominal opening (13’).
The question is what’s stopping it?
Is it hitting the stop springs? Is it on an opener?
Is the opener limit switch stopping it?
Do the cables go slack when you prop it up?
It’s most likely just an adjustment of the opener or the stop spring locations.

It probably needs to be adjusted and when it was setup they just might not have figured someone really needed a full 13 feet for getting their stuff in the garage. I think some fellows adjust them so you hit the door before you hit the roof, as somewhat as a safety reminder.

It may be a low headroom track, identified by double horizontal track. Because of the engineering that door cannot open fully without help. Best is a trolley type opener. A shaft drive will not open it fully!
