did these ever have an off/on switch??? I installed the old school spark plug stop clip to ground out the plug to turn off. I got this generator out of a field that was covered in leaves & tarps/cardboard for years. I got it to run but need to know if they came withh an on/off switch

I was being a smart ***. Difficult to convey sarcasm with a key board.
Ours was a horrible POS. No one could ever get it running on the job.
I think ours had a switch to ground out the plug but it was broke. So guys would full choke it and then it would not like to restart.

Lol,
You know, I googled what you said & sure enough many recommend choking out older units to shut down.

I thought it would harm the carb in the long run ,but they say it wont
