Friends dont let friends buy modern stanley products! Sorry for your misfortune, though as a guy I used to work with would say when a tool was failing you. "What kind should you have bought?" lol. And you know what the answer would be.

I had a Mac Tech 1000 for 10 years. It still looked great the day I sold it. Never had one issue at all with it. I just out grew it. I would have kept it if I could have got Mac guy tocome to the shop. I called Mac and told them I wanted to buy a top box for mine. They called me back and said the only dealer is in the zip code next to me and I am too far south for him to come. The next zip code is literally across the street. So I sold it and took my wife and kids to disney fora week . I have a good friend who works at Lowes and he got me the big Kobalt one with the radio for 1400. I have a lowes card and they had 24months no interest. I know the box is a lower quality but the trip to disney with the family was well worth itand also solved 3 of my issues more room, garage radio, and a fridge.

New toold box arrived yesterday, and the old one was repaired and sold today.

I had to drill a 1/4" hole in the back of the old one and send photos in. The hole in the back is so people looking at it can quickly tell it has been warranties. the photos to mac were to prove it got done and to record the serial number

Thanks mac for doing the right thing.

I didn't take any photos, but the weld in question is indeed hand done with a mig. The difference here is that the new box has just a nice clean small bead at the back tieing the 3 peices together. No blueberry sized gob of **** burned halfway through the support like the last one.

Can't ***** about that it may have been a bit of a hasstle but there sets a brand new box.
i'm glad also that you and your Mac man are still friends, it's nice when it works out and everybody is happy. I'm glad you stuck with your Mac box which is what you wanted to start with and years from now you will still be glad you stuck with it.

Congrats.
It's interesting to learn some of the welds are legitimately MIG, I would have assumed it was 100% spotwelded.

My MAC guy and I get along great. Too bad he is retiring this year.

Umm... which one is the new one?

Is the new one the one with the stainless top on it?

The one without the stainless top is the new one.

FYI i had a similar problem with my so box and went through all the same **** you dealt with and maybe more, when all said in done it took 4 months to get my new box approved and another month to actually get it , so snap on really isn't that much better then mac with customer service, I sent emails and everything with no response, I called and they said i would have to talk to the regional rep and could not get a hold of him for the life of me....blah blah blah... just saying.

I give the op allot of credit. He handle the issue in professional manner, and Mac did the right thing by him. Glad everything worked out enjoyed the new box.
