Maxjax 105 inch width?

I just bot a maxjax. Will use it for my 3 triumph tr's which are pretty narrow. Has anyone put their columns the minimum width i.e. 105 inches? Also are any of you using the maxjax for storing a car on top of a second one?

Mitch, I think you can go farther apart than 105" for the TRs. Search the threads here, particularly JMusme's garage in Colombia. He lifts an MGTC with I recall a 118" or so spacing. I believe he and so others here have TRs and Maxjaxs. Remember the width measurements are taken from the outside edges of the baseplates.

Also, park a TR between unbolted columns and simulate the arms with a tape measure. That will tell you if the arms will reach. There's plenty of information in this forum.

I wouldn't store a car on Maxjaxs or any two post lifts, as the suspension will droop. That will be especially hard on TRs because the bonded rubber bushes will take a set or shear.

I usually lift an mg td, a tc, an alfa romeo guillia spider and an austin healey 100-4. As andres correctly stated i have a 118 inches distance outside edges and it works fine for me.
I would definetly not use a 105 inches distance, way too impractical and narrow.
Andres (andy) idea about the simulation is the best advice.
I would not park a car on top and one under due to the fact that all british cars leak oil, gas, water and brake fluid

You can check in this thread I did on the install of the MaxJax but I positioned mine much wider, I think around 124"

One thing to consider is what if you want to work on one of your daily drivers or help out a buddy, that narrow position may be restrictive. I'd go a bit wider to allow more flexibility in it's use if it were me.

124" will probably be much too wide for the cars Mitch intends to lift, Dolfan.

On the 118" width you can even lift an Aston Martin DB6.
