Maxjax anchor question

Hey, I already installed the maxjax but when the anchor bolts are torqued properly the anchors are a little bit above the concrete. Does anyone see a problem with tapping the anchors back down (further in this time) and re-torquing the bolts? I went exactly 5/8 below the surface... I should have went more.

It's working fine how it is now. I've had multiple cars on the lift but stuff like that just bothers me. All bolts torqued to 100 ft/lbs, but who knows if the top of the anchors bottomed on on the plate or not.

Pac,

I've installed a few of these. How far they pull up when setting typically depends on the finished hole size. Did bit wobble, condition of concrete (PSI), and torque. If less than 3/16” above I would not worry about it. Not sure I would try resetting the anchors by tapping down and starting all over. I suspect that the internal hole surfaces are now fatigued (for the lack of better), and the anchor would most likely set back to the same spot. Not that I am a big advocate of modifying OEM parts, I simply took a grinder and cut off the tops of mine. I had a few bolts that did not pound all the way down because of a bonehead move. What I was told was a 7/8” bit turned out to be a 22 millimeter bit which is slightly less than 7/8”. That meant that the holes were undersized. Pounding with a “bigger” hammer didn’t do the trick so four of the anchors ended up setting 3/8” above the surface. I wasn’t too worried about removing some of the threads because if you look at the sheer rating of that size bolt on those threads it would far exceed the load rating for the anchor itself. The MaxJax works fine and the anchors have not budged.

I had one do that, I checked to see if it was hitting the bottom plate and it wasn't. I torqued it and it hasn't moved.
