with some of the talk about hiding the hydraulic lines with the maxjax I figured I'd post some pics of how I did mine. It's pretty easy really, you just have to get some longer lines made and get the proper fittings to connect it all together. Oh, and I got some 45 degree fittings for where the lines attach to the columns so they wouldn't flare out. I used equal length lines.

I attached the pump to a melamine board with countersunk bolts on the back side and then lag bolted it in across two studs. Really pretty straightforward.

I refused to have the hydraulic lines sitting on the floor. I mean come on... really?

Oh and I'll tell you what... it's pretty crazy what passes for a "two car" garage in new construction these days.

Yeah... my ceilings are almost 11 ft so in retrospect I could have gone with a different model... especially since i never move the columns, but really this is fine for me. My buddy has an f250 that can't go on there, but everything else works just fine.

Thanks! It wasn't difficult, but it was a bit expensive. For the extra hoses, fittings and connectors you are probably looking at close to $300. Well worth it though in my opinion.

Can you tell me how you connected to ear other within a bank?
I'm looking to do something similar, but just one bank. I have single fluorescent fixture in place today like the one you posted and I would like to "chain" two more off of that one.

Thanks

Hi PacMan, Had my maxjax installed now for a few weeks.

I need to lengthen the hoses, and get them off the floor too.

What was your cost per foot for the hoses? Princess Auto here in Canada crimps hydraulic hoses for free (provided u buy from them).

3/8" hose runs $1.89/ft

3/8" NPTM x 3/8" hose (crimp connector) with swivel = $8.99 each http://www.princessauto.com/power-t...8-nptm-swivel-x-3/8-hose-bite-to-wire-fitting

3/8" NPT couplers = $2.99 each http://www.princessauto.com/power-transmission/hydraulics/fittings/npt/8058237-coupler to reuse/join existing hose.

Was that comparable to what you paid?

I just ran a single 10/2 wire across the ceiling where the lights were going to go. I mounted the lights on top of the wire, then pulled some of the wire into each light and used wiretaps to connect them. Each bank on on a surge protector, and all banks are wired to the same breaker and switch as my builder installed overhead garage lights (which were just two bulbs)

F250 - Too Tall? / Long? / Wide? / Heavy?

I have a MJ on order, and a couple of old F250's (5k lbs) I was planning on lifting among other smaller critters

Pat

His is brand new, so it's too heavy. His is the longbed with the V10. I was thinking 6500 to 7000 lbs. Either way, with my 5000 lb jeep up there the columns deflect inward slightly. I'm sure its the design spec, but I wouldnt want to go over the rated limit.

Did you use a fisheye lens for those pics?

Yes, I did. My damn garage feels so small I thought i'd need a fisheye to capture it all. lol

Thats alot cheaper than what I paid. Theres a local hydraulic shop that I got hose from. I forget the specifics, but I think they gave me 5 or 6000 psi hose that feels much higher quality than the hose that came with the maxjax... it felt like forklift hose. Anyway I'm sure it was overkill, and honestly the system is only as good as it's weakest link. Just make sure the hoses you get carry a rating as good or better than the hoses that came with the maxjax. I'm pretty sure the fittings were the same price.
