UPDATE:

Official DATE and PRICE of the GROUP BUY!

Since I have counted over 40 potential buyers I have got the costs even lower than the original plan.

Here it is: OCTOBER 9TH - 11TH ONLY

PRICE: *drumroll* $1800 SHIPPED

Here's the number: 1-800-261-7729 Garage Equipment Supply, MUST mention you are a GarageJournal member and prepare to give out your username if asked.

Here's the website: www.gesusa.com (to place an order you must use this secret coupon code: GJOURNMXJ1013 - copy paste it into the coupon code field if you are having trouble - coupon will only work during the sale date mentioned above. Coupon will work with multiple MaxJax.)

Disclaimers for purchasing the lift can be found here: https://www.gesusa.com/Articles.asp?ID=322

That MUST be read before purchasing. (Just states that you know what the concrete/size requirements are, and what to do if there's freight damage etc.)

Buyer IS RESPONSIBLE FOR OFFLOADING
etc, all the normal stuff with any lift you would buy from any company.

OLD POST:

Hey guys, we are thinking about doing a group buy before this year is up.

Start saving now if you're interested!

It's going to be a pretty good deal, so if you've been wanting a MaxJax we're going to give out great deals to our GJ friends.

I can't say what price just yet, but it will be in 2-4 months, just a heads up.

We don't sell direct, but one or more of our web retailers will be available to purchase from. More info to come

Fixed that for you. I still have my Maxjax from the initial GB in the spring of 2009. Love it.

I wouldn't mind one for the 2nd bay, but I imagine the cost to do so would be *substantially* higher now, all said and done.

For what it is worth, I've had more cars on it than I can count..and we have 3 cars in my family that weigh about 5300-5400 each. (maybe more wet and fueled).

How is this a "Hot Deal" if no price is posted, and won't be for another 2 to 3 months?

This item goes on sale at Costco periodically for $1,999.99 Shipping and Handling included. In the coupon flyer booklet.

Plus, with Costco's return policy, you could set it up, use it for a couple months. Then if you decide it's not for you, just throw it in the back of a pickup truck and run it over to the nearest local Costco for a no-questions-asked full refund.

gets me all excited...sounds like a good solution.

If I could get ahold of them for around $1500 that might work out. Lower the better here...

I highly doubt they will offer that low. Previously, they offered it for ~$1800 shipped it to your door.

I suggest they propose different tiers of discount. i.e. $1800 (shipped) for group buy (GB) of 20; $1700 for GB of 25; $1600 for GB of 30; etc....

That was a long time ago, my friend.

I hope we can get it that low but, with the price of steel, I don't think it will hit $1400.

It's definitely going to be a huge savings from retail.

I wonder if this is a full height lift of is the half / mid rise lift? With limited ceiling heights, a full lift is out of the question, but the shorter one is definitely of interest.

Scissor lifts are comparable in pricing, and while more portable (can be out in your driveway), they are more limiting what you can access under the vehicle. If you put in extra mounting points in your driveway, you could move the unit outside for use as needed as well, so it really is a good option.

Storage of the darn things can be tricky when not in use. But... geez, tempting.

Yes. And those prices are normal Coscto price. Wait until they go on sale in the coupon flyer booklet. The US price goes down to $1,999.99. Not sure about the Canada price when it goes on sale.

Yes, Costco.ca buys containers at a time, and stocks them. That is why they are able to still make a profit at that price.
