Anyone installed maxjax in a single garage?

Mine is about 10 feet wide... Not sure of that's enough space...

Please advice.

Around here maxjax ... It would be about the same price as a scissor lift...so...

There's also about 2-3 feet of concrete wall around the garage... Thinking about bolting something to the wall to hold the column feet in addition to the floor bolts since being at the edge is not the strongest...

felchi80,

Most people set the MaxJax up at 125" outside of baseplate to outside baseplate and that handles most cars that are in the 6k lb range.. I do not feel 120" (10') would be that big of a disadvantage. The scissor lift is always an option but the undercar access and ability to move it out of the way will be more of a problem in the long run. IMO Any lift you purchase will make the jobs 40% quicker and lees pain on the knees and back. I can tell you from experience, customers always tell me they should have done it (Purchased a lift) long before they did..

As far as the concrete edge, the slab usually runs under the walls so the 10' width is not the edge of the slab ? If it is, I'm afraid the scissor lift is the better option.

Hi! I have my MJ set at 118"s apart. That means from outside to outside of the base plates. If I had to, I know I could even go narrower if I had to. Depending on what kind of car you have, and how wide it is~ you could probably squeeze it in your garage. I also have and 7'11" ceiling. I'd consider the maxjax, pull a car into your garage and mock up where the maxjax might go. Take in consideration your garage door may have to be closed. I'm trying to get my husband to pour concrete outside of our garage so I can install anchors for my columns to be outside. Don't forget, the MJ can be unbolted and moved out of the way.

The dolly wheels would take up a little space. I've seen some MJs narrowed to lift golf carts. I have two sets of holes/anchors.

Also you can use a single column for other things: motorcycles, lawnmowers, whatever your imagination allows!

I took a better measurement last night. I have about 124" wall to wall. Assuming that I need to be 6" inches from the wall edge for the anchors... Then if the hole on the base of the MJ is 1" from the edge... The width of my install would be 124-10= 114"
Sounds kinda small. Width of my car is 70" so that means I have 22" on each side between the car and the MJ.
Does this sound feasible?

I just saw a local ad... Someone selling a lightly used MJ for 1250.... Sounds too good a deal to pass...

What do you guys think?

Actually I forgot about the depth of the columns.. I need to subtract that from the 22 inches to get the space between car and lift.

Does anyone have the dimensions of the lift? Column and base plate and holes placing?

The base plates for the MaxJaxx are 14-1/2" by 13" (16" including the wheels). The center of the 5 bolt holes are about 1" in from the plate edges.

The inside edge of the vertical post is about 4-1/2" from the inside edge of the base plate.

Some things you should measure is the width of the car as it would sit between the vertical posts. It's best to get the car at a point where the weight of the car would be equal (front to rear) on the centerline of the vertical posts and equal distance between the posts.

Then you need to figure out how far you can get the driver's door open so you can get in and out of the car. Place the vertical posts too close to each other and you can have a problem with getting a door open :willy_nil

Before buying the lift, it would be a good idea to drill a small hole in the floor near where the anchors will be placed. MaxJaxx says the floor slab should be a minimum of 4" thick and a 3000 psi strength. The anchors must be a minimum of 6" away from any cracks in the floor.
